Privacy policy

Draft for review, not legal advice.

Last updated: October 23, 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Web Honcho collects through this website, why we collect it, where it's kept and what choices you have. It's written to follow Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

Who is responsible

The Web Honcho is a trade name of Conception Web WebHoncho. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this site.

Privacy contact (person responsible for personal information): [Full name, to be confirmed], hello@thewebhoncho.ca.

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us, plus a few technical details needed to run the chat safely.

  • Chat: your messages and, if you choose to give them, your name and email. We also keep the page language, which page you were on and the time of each message.
  • Spam protection: to limit abuse, the chat keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for short-term rate limits. We don't store the address itself.
  • Quote form: your name, business name, email, the service and budget you pick, and your message. The form doesn't send anything by itself: it opens your own email app with a message to hello@thewebhoncho.ca, and you choose whether to send it.
  • Please don't share passwords, payment details or health information in the chat or the form.

Why we collect it

  • To answer your questions, prepare quotes and follow up about work you asked about.
  • To keep the chat working and protect it from spam and abuse.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.

How the chat replies

The first replies in the chat are automatic. They come from a fixed set of answers about our services and prices, and they don't make any decisions about you. When a question needs a person, a member of our team reads the conversation and replies. We may use assistant tools to help us sort messages and draft replies; a person reviews any reply before it's sent.

Where it's stored

This site and the chat run on Cloudflare, our hosting provider. Chat conversations are stored in Cloudflare's database service. Cloudflare may store and process data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it could be accessed under the laws of that country. When we reply to you by email, that email is kept in our email account.

How long we keep it

Our plan is to keep chat conversations and quote requests for up to 12 months after the last message, then delete them [retention period to be confirmed]. If you become a client, we keep what we need for the work and for our business records. Rate-limit records are cleared within a few days. You can ask us to delete your conversation sooner.

Cookies and browser storage

  • No ads, no tracking or analytics cookies, and no third-party scripts.
  • This site doesn't set cookies for visitors.
  • If you use the chat, it saves a random chat ID and a conversation key in your browser's local storage so it can show your conversation if you come back. We also remember that you closed the storage notice.
  • You can remove these at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, withdraw your consent, or have it deleted. Where the law allows, you can also ask for a copy in a commonly used format. Email hello@thewebhoncho.ca and we'll reply within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

How we protect it

The site and chat use HTTPS and strict security settings. Only our team can read conversations, through a password-protected inbox. If a privacy incident creates a risk of serious harm, we'll tell you and the regulators as the law requires.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Questions or requests: hello@thewebhoncho.ca.
